December 14-15, 2019, the 4^th data science sub-forum of Fudan Science and Innovation Forum--2019 International Conference on Data Science was successfully held in Shanghai. Fudan Science and Innovation Forum is hosted by Fudan University, organized by Fudan Institute for Advanced Study, and sponsored by Zhongzhi Enterprise Group. It aims to build a global vision of communication and sharing platform, gather science and technology leading talents, and grasp the most cutting-edge innovation trends in the world. At the same time, by stimulating the enthusiasm of the public, especially the young talents, the forum is going to create an entrepreneurial and innovative atmosphere in hopes of contributing to Shanghai's establishment of a science and technology innovation center with global influence.

This forum is composed of a main forum and four sub-forums, with topics covering bio-medicine, innovation and entrepreneurship, data science and artificial intelligence. The data science sub-forum,also named the International Conference on Data Science, is hosted by the School of Data Science, Fudan University, which aims to promote development of the big data industry by inviting international experts and scientists to share their latest research.

Jianqing Fan, Dean of School of Data Science and Institute for Big Data, Fudan University, addressed the opening ceremony of the 2019 International Conference on Data Science and expressed his sincere welcome and heartfelt thanks to scientists and young scholars from all over the world. He briefly introduced the development of School of Data Science, and analyzed the current situation and recent progress in the field of data science research.

The 2019 International Conference on Data Science lasted for 2 days, with 4 distinguished speeches and 20 parallel sessions, and nearly 80 scholars gave reports.More than 350 scientists and young scholars from worldwide universities, scientific research institutions, enterprises attended the conference.

The 2019 International Conference on Data Science focused on latest academic research on data science and related applications in interdisciplinary field. In this conference, in-depth reports were given around topics in data statistics, data mining, complex data inference, medical data, mapping knowledge domains, machine learning, and big data finance. A Young Scholars Forum and a poster session were included in this conference, with total 9 young researchers and 35 poster exhibitors giving reports. After the unified evaluation of the review committee, 1 person finally won the best poster award, 2 people won the best poster nomination award, and 10 people won the student travel award.
